Go-HvA Design Challenge

Project HvA (University of Applied Sciences)
View end of page for final designs.

During this project I was part of a design team to solve a design challenge of the HvA collaborative parter Go-HvA

Our problem statement :

How can we improve usability and overal awareness of the Go-HvA website and motive students to submit their projects

We split the challenge into 3 parts :

1. How can we improve student awareness.
2. How can we motivate student upload and clarity within their projects.
3. How can we make uploading projects more user friendly.

My particular challenge was number 2 :
How can we motivate student upload and clarity within their projects.
Research
During our research period we used different research tools to understand the users from a perspective of our stake holders.

We used:
- stakeholder map,
- MoSCoW map
- Desk research
- Benchmark research
- Interviews

From the outcome we lined up our insights to create sketches and wireframes.
Wireframes

During the wireframe section we each created different layouts and based on our research and challenge needs to finally agree on this design to use as base for all the 3 challenges.
Final design
For the final design I have to highlight the 3 images below.
For my design solutions I've created the following.

For the clarity on the projects: A color scheme to order the project by interest tied to a color - Green is for sustainability, blue for water etc.

To motivate the user to upload: A competitive element with a rewarding system, here the user can win a badge it will be displayed on the winning article and profile.

Solution
We can improve usability and overal awareness due to the share function on each project uploaded by the user where the user can filter on interest. The user is then motivated by the competitive element to win badges that contribute to a reward system the Go-HvA already had.
